Dreambert and Bedsmith, two creatures of the Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in a strange house in an unfamiliar town, feeling lost and confused. Just as panic sets in, a peculiar man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He suggests that they must have passed out while watching television the night before, but before he can explain further, the situation becomes even stranger. A creature named Starlow, of the Star Sprite species, arrives, insisting that she is their friend. She says that they had plans to leave, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of her or those plans. Reluctantly, they follow Starlow outside, unsure of their surroundings. They wander through the town, acting as if they recognize neither their surroundings nor Starlow. Despite the confusion, Starlow continues to interact with them as if they were lifelong friends. As she shows them around, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and names, trying to put them at ease. However, Dreambert and Bedsmith remain disoriented and unable to make sense of their past or their connection to Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow grows more concerned, initially thinking they are simply pretending to forget. But as their strange behavior persists, she begins to worry that something is seriously wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens, and she wonders if there is something more behind her forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house where they first woke up, and are provided with an unfamiliar-looking bed by Wonky, still claiming to be their father. Too tired and confused to protest, they settle in for the night. As they drift off to sleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identities, their past, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they fall into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds for them.
